Helping Ukrainian families in the HENDI CENTRE.
As a rehabilitation facility, we have already been instrumental in providing acute assistance to refugees from Ukraine with a disabled family member with the arrival of the first families to Slovakia in March this year.
Due to the huge demand, we were not able to help all applicants for rehabilitation stay. Therefore, as a rehabilitation facility, we decided to actively seek opportunities to refinance the costs associated with providing rehabilitation care and necessary accommodation to families from Ukraine. We were not indifferent to their fate and wanted to be ready to help in every way. In total, we managed to provide rehabilitation stays for 15 families, mostly with a handicapped child, during 2022.
Thanks to the funds obtained from the Trnava Self-Governing Region and their program Helping for Health in the total amount of 10.000 EUR, we provided intensive rehabilitation stay to four children and one adult man - Bohdanka, Yan-Mehmed, Andrej, Elizabeta and Veronika.
Children and adult clients had the opportunity to undergo an intensive rehabilitation stay of 5 to 10 days, which consisted of intensive exercise with a physiotherapy group, massage, individually selected complementary therapies on a daily basis and hydrotherapy. Regular rehabilitation is an essential means for a quality life within the physical disability of each individual. We are extremely pleased that all our patients have received the full medical care that is denied to them during this difficult time in their home country. The families made new social contacts during their stays at the HENDI CENTRE and were provided with an environment in which they felt very comfortable.
On behalf of all the families, we are grateful for the grant contribution from the Trnava Self-Governing Region. By using the available funds we have positively supported the adaptation process of many Ukrainian families in Slovakia.
